no one

when i was 20
i wrote a poem
believing i could be immortal
ruling the land and making the law
and now as this young adult
i've reread that brain candy manifesto
and all that came of it
useless and contrived and seriously full of shit
funny with youth's joy like nothing that has been since

now i'll write another poem
and rule this moment
with an unwavering hand
maybe a simple pawn for the next
or just a simple joker
dumb with bliss
